The Young Wolfie Smith

Here is the latest stage the YCL member is at. He has a good mix of civies and military gear and I love the pose. Just one question though, what colour(s) to do the blanket?

Here's the next one

Here is the start of the next illustration, this time of a YCL member. I have gone a bit for the soveit look while trying to keep the whole bloody thing british. I think I have done it. Here is the picture.

Ratty

Paul Hick's Mutton Chop Miniatures have a lovely range of Windish in the Willows characters called the Windy Chaps. I have started to paint the first of these figures for my VBCW forces and for some reason, I chose Ratty. So he is the fellow.

General Issue

Well as you can see this Socialist General is completed. When for the green for the uniform as in the past socialist groups used green as a uniform and symbol and it seemed fitting. I am very happy with the way its turned out and I wonder if anyone can guess who he is based on?

General Disorder

Here is the latest stage the general is at. I have finished the uniform and gone for a light green/grey uniform like that of Aussie's Light Horse.

The General Just Started

I have started the general and next will be the shirt and tie. I think that you might be a little surprised the suit is going to be coloured.

Socialist General

Hello there once again, here is the next illutsration on the list, this time its a General for the Socialsts forces. We wanted him to look "modern" for the 1930s at least and so went for trouser as opposed to riding breeches and boots. Also I have semi based him on a famous ex army officer politican from the period, see if you can guess who? So here is the picture.

The Commissar is Here

I have finished the Commissar and I have to say I think he is very nice. So stayed away from the usual stars and hammers emblem and went with the clenched fist. Actually there is lots of historical precedence for the clenched fist as a sign of british socialism. So here is the finished Commissar for you all. Just five move to finish the book.

And the Commissar is nearing completion

Oh yes I am nearly finished the Commissar and I am rather pleased with the look so far. He has something of the look of the actor who played Leon but that could just be me. So here he is.

Commissar Update

Here is the latest stage the Commissar is at. I am rather pleased with the face wondering at the moment what colour to paint the shirt. Oh the fun of an illustrator. Still onwards and upwards as they say.

The Finished Clarion Cyclist

I have finished this fellow and I have to say I am rather pleased with the results. Maybe I am developing my style or the fact I send too long looking at 30s paintings and photos, but I really think I am capturing the 30s looks. Here is the picture for you to decide.

All Welcome the King

This was a special figure you received at Partizan I this year and he is King Edward VIII, which is apt for VBCW. Its a lovely figure, well scuplted and a joy to paint. Wallis will be the next special figure at Partizan II in September which I cant wait to get. Here's a couple of photos of him.
