Another New Sketch for the Albertine Book

Yes indeed, not one but two new sketches for the new Albertine book with a third one hopefully being completed this evening. This fella is based on a mountain soldier or rather a 1930s mountaineer. I am rather happy with this one but cant decide on Lee Enfield 303 rifle or a civilian hunting rifle, can anyone help here?

  1. Excellent! For what it's worth I would stick with the Lee Enfield for no other reason than to make it easier for the chaps who play VBCW. It occurs to me that it would be easier to find and convert a WWII commando (who would have access to Lee Enfield) into a 1930s mountaineer than to scratcbuild one. He does have the touch of the deer hunter about him ;-)

  2. I think Michael's reasoning is spot on.

Unless of course you are also going to add sculpting to your talents and start producing your own line of figures.....

  3. I like him as he is with the rifle, but I can understand Michael and Kingsley's reasoning for the Enfield.

  5. Lee-Enfield for mine, too.

With his beanie and smock, he looks like he should have some skis, too; A real mountain man!

  8. I'm going to go against the grain and say hunting rifle.

  9. Lee Enfield for me. There are plenty of talented chaps out there who could convert a Commando figure to have a hunting/sniper rifle if so desired.

  10. Marvellous illustration there! My first thought was that it had a real wilderness feel to it, even a slight hint of the Falklands conflict. My vote is firmly with the .303 but a scoped version to increase the mountain/Ghillie feel.
