A Modern Day Matthew Hopkins

Now being dragged in North East Essex, there lots of history, areas and talks on the Witchfinder General, Matthew Hopkins. Then after watch Rory's Bloody Histories about him it started me thinking at a Witchfinder General type of character, going around terrorising the population with his small army, dispensing justice, for VBCW. Now do you think that there is room for a character like him? With faction what you see him being a part of? Any views or ideas?

  1. Sounds an interesting idea. A militant splinter group of the Anglican League perhaps?

Of course, they'll need a counterpart, and who better than the Thelemists led by Aleister Crowley?

    1. Now both of these are great ideas there, cheers for that.

  2. I'll echo TamsinP and say the Anglican League would make the best fit for a Witchfinder General-type character, although he/she might fit just as well with the BUF. Call the bodyguards the New Ironsides or something, and you're away. =)

    1. Its going to be interesting finding a suitable figure but I am seeing an expansion to my original idea.

  3. Sounds like a top character (if you know what I mean). You may recall I painted up some BUF officers in Grey instead of black as part of the field based spooks perhaps there is a small army of these fanatics who drop in on un garrisoned villages and sow trouble for the population.
